How’s it going? I’m not sure, if you remember who I am: We travelled together on the EF trip to Vancouver in 2005
I just found out about you trip from Cape to Cape, so I checked your homepage – great way to raise awareness that renewable energiey truely are an alternative in the twenty-first century!

Beste Gijs, terwijl ik zelf zat te denken aan een reus van kaap tot kaap per fiets met elektrische trapondersteuning (over 15 jaar of zo), las ik je geweldige reisplannen.
Ik zag dat je een maand voor vertrek geen fiets hebt. Zou je niet een speciale fiets op maat laten maken met zo licht mogelijke accu en motor en een Rohloffnaaf? De huidige elektrische fietsen zijn nl nog niet echt geschikt voor superlange tochten door hun gewicht of uitrusting.

Bedankt voor het meedenken Ronald. Ik ben inderdaad nog steeds op zoek naar een fiets en zal je suggestie zeker meenemen
. Ik ”spring een beetje in het diepe” aangezien ik geen echte fietser ben en afgelopen maand voor de eerste keer op een elektrische fiets heb gefietst!

Precies een maand na onze ontmoeting zit ik nu in het midden van Tanzania! Vandaag heb ik ook voor het eerst de hele dag onverhard gereden. Weet ik ook weer hoe dat voelt!
Goed dat je nog even kan teren op Ethiopie in Nederland. De komende 3 maanden fiets ik nog even lekker door de zon. Laat me even weten als de lente weer begint daar, ok?

Hoe gaat het met het fietsen ik hoop dat het goed gaat. Ik hoop that het fietsen goed gaat en het nog leuk word is voor jou op je tocht.
Ik vroeg me eigenlijk af what ook alweer the naam van de workshop is that je doet. Je weet de naam van het workshop self. En ik vraag me af of je mishien weet van een paar contacten in the wereld the wat interresants weten over enviromental design of websites, omdat ik ben hoogstens involved met een personal project on mijn school eco-freindly te maken. En ik ben in een project bezig die je mishien kent heet GIN wij maken een website van soluties en problemen in th wereld. Wanneer we onlijn gaan geef ik jou well the link.

i just found an old thorn leafled of cape to cape betwean my papers and I was curious to see where are yowiu now.
You have gone pretty far since we met shortly on gas station/cafe/infocenter near Pello, Finland. I was on of the guys on the way to ski in Lapland. It was quite crapy weather and I was thinking that wow that’s a man with a nice project. I wish you all the best and come home safe.

Heb je site er maar even opgezocht na de geweldige verhalen van je reis! Als ik zulke verhalen hoor wordt ik elke keer weer enthousiaster om een volgend avontuur op te zetten. Wij zitten na ons reisje alweer drie dagen in Nederland. Wat gaat dat toch snel zeg! Het is hier koud, dus geniet daar nog even van het lekkere weer. Congratulations on embarking on such an amazing journey and completing it!
It would have been very interesting to speak to you more about you travels and the things you saw, sorry we missed you.
You MUST put PE on your visiting list for the spring, we have a Transition Town group looking at food security and building a community garden…amongst other things. Colleagues in the development/architecture dep. at NMMU are looking at sustainable housing, biogas generators, and eco-sensitive issues in informal settlements. Electric cars are being designed by students as well as solar water heaters made of plastic bottles! We are working on a community education methodology – possibly around water and energy conservation and micro-generation…..so many things to see in PE! We have a small but growing Critical Mass group too. I belong to a Southern African environmental youth network – called The Blue Buck Network – we have a yearly conference – and it would be wonderful if you could share your journey with us, and inspire others to think big and start asking questions!

Wat een prestatie !! Gefeliciteerd ! Fijn dat de finish in goede gezondheid is gehaald.
Ik heb ervan genoten je verhalen te lezen. Heel knap zoals je gecommuniceerd hebt met alle gremia waarmee je van doen had en dat terwijl er van alles georganiseerd moest worden. Bedankt daarvoor.
Ik dacht dat het pietluttige stukje dat ik mee mocht fietsen met wind tegen zwaar was, maar ik weet nu wel beter.
Het ga je goed en mocht er een volgend project komen dan hoor ik graag van je.

Wat leuk dat het toen gelukt is om een stukje samen te fietsen. Ook al was die 40km maar 0,2% van het totaal, de stukken die je samen fietst onthoud je toch 100 keer beter!
Een volgend project zal er vast komen, maar eerst even genieten van het Nederlandse! Ik hou je op de hoogte.

Haha, voorlopig schaatsen we op Thialf ipv. op de kanalen. Maar wie weet komt ‘ie ooit nog eens?! En ik woon inderdaad in L’wde. Mocht je tijdens je bezoek ook een rondleiding door de Doelesteeg willen, dan mail je maar.
